Installing Poll Everywhere using the MSI
If you have trouble installing Poll Everywhere for PowerPoint, it might be necessary to manually install Windows dependencies and use the MSI installation file. This is a more detailed installation that you can use if the standard executable does not work for you. These instructions will show you how to complete the MSI install.
If you are on a computer at work, get your IT team involved. With their help, install the Poll Everywhere app using the enterprise installation files.
Step 1: Close all open instances of PowerPoint.
Step 2: If you have already tried to install the Poll Everywhere app unsuccessfully, make sure to remove it from your computer before you proceed with the enterprise install process. Go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Uninstall a Program. If Poll Everywhere is in the list of programs, uninstall it.
Step 3: Install the following three files in order. The first two are dependencies Poll Everywhere needs to run, and the last is a slightly different type of installation file that should resolve any issues you may be having. Click the links below to download and install the files. If a program already exists on your computer it’s okay to skip it and move to the next one on the list. You can tell if it’s installed because it will ask you to “repair” the installation; this is typically unnecessary.
When you are installing the Poll Everywhere MSI, you will be prompted to either install for “Everyone” or “Just Me.” Please select the “Everyone” option (it should be selected by default) and proceed as normal. Note, when installing as “Everywhere” automatic updates are disabled. Review the “Update PowerPoint Addin” article for more details.
Open a new PowerPoint deck. You should now see a Poll Everywhere tab. If you do not see the Poll Everywhere tab, you may need to enable Poll Everywhere from the PowerPoint options menu. Check out the No Poll Everywhere tab in Windows PowerPoint if you need more information on resolving that issue.
